Launched in the Spring 2014, Marathons & Half Marathons expects to become the go-to resource for runners looking to go 13.1 & beyond. Our unparalleled race calendar will be backed up by magazine-style reviews curated by our team and submitted by runners like you. We’ll also be actively encouraging race directors to tell us about their races, which we think will be a really neat way to connect runners and race directors.
Marathons & Half Marathons is brought to you by the same team, that created and manages NYCRUNS.COM, the New York City area’s largest and most comprehensive race calendar. Its sister site HVRUNS.COM dedicated to the Hudson Valley running scene, entered the scene more recently.
In addition to working with clients on races to provide timing services and running event management, New York City Runs produces over 50 races of its own each year.
Most importantly, NYCRUNS is made up of runners like you, and we’re creating this site because we need it too! We really hope you like it.
This is one of the more underrated races in the NYC area. I've done this half-marathon twice and I love it. It's reasonably priced, very well organized, and from mile 6 or so on when the skyline and Statue of Liberty come into view, it's one of the most gorgeous races you can run. Portions of the course are narrow, but the race is comfortable and not overcrowded at all; this year's field was just over 3,000, and even that was the largest in the history of the event.
It only loses a star because the Liberty State Park portion of the race runs on an extremely hard, unforgiving surface that may prematurely tire your knees out, as it did mine. The only other tiny quirk…
